Chris McGinnis is a programmer, designer, and artist who has long been fascinated by the intersection of art and technology. In undergrad, he received a BFA in Sculpture alongside dual minors in Computer Science and Art History, culminating in his thesis art show in which he created large scale installations that tracked the passage of time through unconventional means. He then moved to New York City, working as a stagehand building sets for Broadway and TV shows, where he was quickly promoted to working as a draftsman and CNC machinist.
During this time, Chris started developing games during his nights and weekends. His passion for making games only grew stronger, until in 2014 Chris decided to return to school to get his MFA in Game Design from NYU to hone his design and programming skills. Upon graduation, his team’s senior project Cognition was selected to participate in the NYU Incubator, helping them to finish and release their project on iOS. Since Incubator, Chris has been a Senior Engineer at Digital Continue, helping them to ship multiple titles across a variety of platforms. While working at Digital Continue, Chris found a particular passion for working with shaders and adding some juice, leading him to recently transition into the company’s full-time technical artist. He looks forward to continuing to explore ways that art, programming, and design intertwine.
